Daisy Ridley, Sosie Bacon, and Simon Rex have been cast in the lead roles of Get Rid of It, a new horror feature that is currently in development. The project is being helmed by director Ry Russo-Young, who will work from a script written by Gemma Holdway. Production on the film is expected to commence at the beginning of the first quarter of 2027.

The story follows Harper, a character played by Ridley, who discovers she is pregnant after a one-night encounter with a drifter named Miller. Rex will portray Miller in the film. Harper’s sister, Jessie, is set to be played by Bacon. The narrative centers on the two sisters as they embark on a cross-country road trip. Their journey becomes a fight for survival when they realize that the pregnancy inside Harper may not be human.

Russo-Young expressed enthusiasm about the project, noting its unique emotional core. The director stated that the strength of the film lies in its compelling point of view and the heart it brings to the horror genre. She added that she is thrilled to bring the story to life with such a gifted group of collaborators.

Russo-Young has previously directed several notable films, including the sci-fi teen thriller Before I Fall, which starred Zoey Deutch, and the drama The Sun Is Also a Star, featuring Charles Melton. She has also directed episodes of the Apple TV+ series Shrinking, a show that stars Harrison Ford and Jason Segel.

Ridley is well known for her role as Rey in the most recent Star Wars trilogy. Her recent credits include the film We Bury the Dead, directed by Zak Hilditch, and Young Woman and the Sea, directed by Joachim Ronning. She is also scheduled to appear in Ti West’s upcoming film Ebenezer, where she will act opposite Johnny Depp.

Bacon is currently starring in the series Scarpetta, directed by Elizabeth Sarnoff, alongside Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis. She recently appeared in the SXSW title Family Movie, which featured Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, and Travis Bacon. Her earlier work includes the film Smile, directed by Parker Finn, and the series Mare of Easttown, created by Brad Ingelsby.

Simon Rex brings experience from the indie and mainstream sectors to the project. He played the character Mikey in Sean Baker’s Red Rocket. His other recent credits include Nic Pizzolatto’s Easy’s Waltz and Zoë Kravitz’s Blink Twice.

David Lancaster is producing the film. He has previously produced major hits such as Whiplash, Nightcrawler, and Drive. The project is being handled for sales by Upgrade, CAA Media Finance, and Range Select.

These sales companies are preparing to present the project to buyers during the fall market. The announcement of the cast and crew marks a significant step in the development of the film ahead of its scheduled start date in early 2027.
