Lindsay Clancy has remained under constant suicide watch for three years, according to her civil attorney. Rosemary Scapicchio revealed the details in a video interview with CBS Mornings that aired on Monday, November 2.
Scapicchio stated that Clancy has been on a one-on-one watch at a state hospital in Tewksbury, Mass., since her initial admission. The attorney explained that hospital staff cannot leave Clancy alone due to concerns regarding her safety.
"They can't leave her alone because they're concerned that she's going to kill herself," Scapicchio said. "They've had her in a one-on-one suicide watch for over three years."
Scapicchio described the daily reality for her client, noting that Clancy lives with the knowledge that she hurt her children. The attorney added that if given the opportunity, she has no doubt Clancy would take her own life.
Clancy, a native of Wallingford, Connecticut, faces three counts of first-degree murder. Prosecutors allege she strangled her children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, on January 24, 2023, at their home in Duxbury, Mass. Her then-husband, Patrick Clancy, was out of the house at the time.
The defense argues Clancy was suffering from postpartum psychosis and was not criminally responsible. The prosecution contends she planned the deaths and was controlling and manipulative.
