Residents of Baltimore County District 3 face a choice between two candidates with distinct professional histories in the upcoming election for the Board of Education. The winner will join a governing body responsible for setting local educational policy, approving the district budget, and selecting the school system superintendent.

Maggie Litz Domanowski, 47, currently holds the District 3 seat and is seeking re-election. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Towson University and has spent the last 20 years working as a full-time administrative assistant. Domanowski, who is married with three children, also serves as the treasurer for the Fallston Football Recreation Program.

Challenger Kelli Slattery McClelland, 44, brings a background in teaching and social services to the race. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Metropolitan State University and a master’s degree in applied sociology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. McClelland, who is married and has two biological children and four stepchildren, holds an active Maryland professional teaching license.

McClelland’s career includes roles as a full-time caregiver for her brother, an adult basic education instructor at Baltimore Community College, and a learning specialist. She also managed the victim outreach program for a nonprofit aiding truck crash families and previously worked in special education and grant coordination.

The election concludes the campaign period for this specific school board district. The outcome determines which candidate will assume the policy-making powers associated with the office, including oversight of the superintendent and fiscal approval for the district.
