Wyatt Kaiser scored with 7:17 remaining to break the tie and give Chicago a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday night.
The victory halted a three-game losing streak for the Blackhawks, who improved to 3-4-0 on a seven-game homestand. Spencer Knight made 25 saves in the win. Roman Kantserov scored his fifth goal of the season in the second period. The Blackhawks killed a double-minor penalty against defenseman Sam Rinzel after his high-sticking infraction.
Kaiser, playing on the blue line, beat Anton Forsberg by shooting the puck between the goaltender's legs from the left circle. The goal marked his first of the season and his 11th in 187 career games. Samuel Helenius scored for Los Angeles in the third period, marking his first of the season. Forsberg stopped 25 shots for the Kings.
Los Angeles scratched captain Drew Doughty and forward Corey Perry after they played in Monday night's 6-3 win over the New York Rangers. Chicago played without defenseman Bowen Byram, who missed his fifth straight game due to an upper-body injury.
Jared Wright set up Helenius for the Kings' early lead. Helenius poked in the shot at 2:31. Joel Armia drew penalties for tripping and interference in the second period. Connor Bedard assisted Kantserov for the equalizer at 16:40.
The Blackhawks are 4 for 39 on the power play in 12 games this season. That conversion rate is 10.3%. Last season, the team converted 16.9% of chances, ranking 29th in the NHL. Both teams return to action on Thursday night. The Kings host Ottawa, while Chicago visits Detroit.
