Two men died from gunshot wounds on a Tel Aviv street early Monday morning.
The victims were brothers, one in his 50s and the other in his 70s. They were found near a senior citizens center and a bank entrance on Moshe Dayan Road. A handgun lay near the bodies.
Magen David Adom dispatchers received a call at 9:32 a.m. reporting two injured people in the Dan region. Paramedics and medics arrived to find both men unconscious on the pavement. They had no pulse and were not breathing. Crews pronounced them dead at the scene.
Meir Grossman, an MDA motorcycle unit paramedic, described the initial response. "We arrived at the scene quickly and saw two men lying in the street, unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, with penetrating wounds on their bodies," he said. "We performed medical examinations and were forced to pronounce their deaths at the scene."
Police confirmed a report of a shooting on Moshe Dayan Street via their 100 hotline. Officers from the South Tel Aviv station and investigators secured the area. The preliminary theory suggests a murder-suicide, in which one brother shot the other before ending his own life. The investigation was ongoing when this report was filed.
Nearby residents described the chaos that followed the shots. One woman said the gunfire caused her to fear a terror attack. "I heard gunshots under the building. At first I locked the windows; I thought maybe it was a terror attack, maybe there's a terrorist downstairs, and suddenly it was quiet and full of ambulances," she said.
She ran downstairs and saw the two men dead on the sidewalk. "There's nothing as scary as that, to see such a difficult sight first thing in the morning. My whole body is still shaking; I can't believe it," she added.
