The Baltimore Ravens are down to a single healthy quarterback on their roster after losing starter Lamar Jackson to a thumb injury and backup Tyler Huntley to a toe injury on Sunday. The team suffered a 36-10 defeat to the Buffalo Bills in Orchard Park, New York, which left them with an immediate crisis ahead of a Thursday night matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Even the remaining healthy option, Joe Fagnano, requires treatment before he can play.

Head coach Jesse Minter stated that the staff will determine the game plan over the next 24 hours. General Manager Eric DeCosta faces a difficult decision if Huntley remains sidelined, as the Ravens do not currently list a practice squad quarterback. Running back Justice Hill served as the emergency substitute during Sunday’s game, a stopgap measure that is unlikely to hold for a full season.

DeCosta has three primary avenues to replace the injured players: signing a free agent, acquiring a player from another team’s practice squad, or trading for a reserve before the league deadline on November 10. The Ravens lack the salary cap space to sign a premium veteran, and teams are generally hesitant to trade their top backups during a competitive stretch of the season.

Among free agents, Cooper Rush and Jimmy Garoppolo are the most notable candidates. Rush, 32, was released by the Atlanta Falcons last month after a poor start to the 2026 season. He completed 56.4 percent of his passes for 229 yards and four interceptions in two starts. Garoppolo, 35, considered retirement in the offseason but indicated in July that he might return for the right opportunity.

Reserve options include Andy Dalton, who was released by the Philadelphia Eagles on October 9 and signed with the Atlanta Falcons shortly after. Dalton is 39 years old and currently sits behind two younger quarterbacks in Atlanta. The Chicago Bears’ Case Keenum is another possibility, having played under current Ravens offensive coordinator Declan Doyle last season. Keenum is 38 and is in the first year of a two-year extension.

The practice squad offers additional names, including Josh Johnson and Will Levis. Johnson, 40, has spent the entire 2026 season on the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad after a stint with the Washington Commanders. Levis, 27, joined the New York Jets’ practice squad in late September following a release from the Tennessee Titans. He missed the entire 2025 season with a shoulder injury and has a career completion rate of 61 percent.
