The Detroit Lions announced on Sunday that Wu-Tang Clan will perform the halftime show at their Thanksgiving Day game against the Green Bay Packers. The concert is scheduled for Nov. 14 at Ford Field.
Rich Haddad, the Lions' president and CEO, stated that the selection reflects the stature of both the team's holiday fixture and the musical act. "Our Thanksgiving Day Classic is one of the greatest traditions in sports, and Wu-Tang Clan is one of the greatest performers in music," Haddad said in a written statement.
The group formed in New York in the early 1990s and released their debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), in 1993. According to the NFL, the collective has released eight group albums, with three achieving quadruple-platinum status. Their catalog includes well-known tracks such as C.R.E.A.M. (Cash Rules Everything Around Me) and Protect Ya Neck.
This appointment follows the Lions' previous halftime selections, which have featured high-profile artists. Last year, Detroit rock artist and 12-time Grammy winner Dave Matthews performed during the Thanksgiving game against Green Bay.
Antonio Cipriano, an actor and recording artist from Michigan, will sing the national anthem for the NFC North matchup. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. local time.
The Lions' announcement details the musical lineup for the 2026 season's holiday fixture, marking the second consecutive year the team has featured a major musical performer during the break in play.
