The 2026-27 UEFA Women's Champions League enters the final half of its league phase this week, with Matchday 3 kicking off on Wednesday, Oct. 28. The timing places the matches immediately following the Ballon d'Or ceremony in London, which honored top individual performers from the previous competitive year.
Standings remain highly volatile. Only one team has secured maximum points through the first two rounds, while others manage split results or struggle to remain competitive. With four rounds left before the February playoffs, this matchday offers a critical opportunity for teams to alter their trajectory or establish clear gaps in the rankings.
Wednesday's schedule includes Chelsea versus Roma and Bayern Munich facing Real Madrid, both starting at 1:45 p.m. Eastern. Servette hosts OH Leuven at the same time. The 4 p.m. Eastern window features Arsenal against Benfica and OL Lyonnes meeting Inter. Thursday, Oct. 29, sees Austria Wien play Juventus and Paris FC face Hacken at 1:45 p.m. Eastern. HB Koge takes on Barcelona, and Manchester City plays Paris Saint-Germain, both at 4 p.m. Eastern.
Barcelona enters this round as the defending champion and fresh from a dominant showing at the Ballon d'Or awards. The club was named best club, manager Pere Romeu received women's coach of the year, Vicky Lopez won best young talent, and Cata Coll was selected as best goalkeeper. Alexia Putellas, now with the London City Lionesses, claimed the women's Ballon d'Or, an award based on her performance during her final season with Barcelona from August 2025 to July 2026.
On the pitch, Barcelona has established early dominance. They defeated Paris FC 5-2 in Matchday 1 and Roma 6-0 in Matchday 2. CBS Sports writer Sandra Herrera noted the team is cruising, supported by an attack featuring Lopez, Claudia Pina, Kerolin, and Ewa Pajor.
Other European competitions also feature key fixtures this week. Serie A includes matches between AC Milan and Bologna, as well as Venezia and Inter, both at 1:30 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday. An EFL Cup tie between Manchester City and Brighton is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Eastern the same day.
