Two people were killed and a third was left in critical condition in separate shootings Tuesday in Prince George's County. The incidents occurred hours apart, adding to a string of violence in the area.
County police arrived at the 8100 block of 15th Avenue in Langley Park shortly before 2 a.m. They discovered two young women with gunshot wounds. One teen died at the scene, while the other was rushed to a hospital where she remains in critical condition. Detectives are pursuing a suspect and do not consider the shooting random.
A second fatal shooting took place around 12:25 p.m. at an apartment on the 1900 block of Belle Haven Drive. Officers found a man with gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead on the scene. Police are currently investigating to determine suspects and a motive.
These two deaths bring the total number of killings in the county since Oct. 27 to at least seven. The period includes four deaths recorded on Oct. 29.
Chief George Nader addressed the spike in violence in a release on Oct. 29. He stated, “We will never lose sight of the human cost of violence.” Nader added, “Even one murder is too many.”
