Temperatures reached 70 degrees Fahrenheit at lunchtime on Tuesday, providing ideal conditions for voters across the state. The weather service reported nearly perfect conditions for Election Day, with highs climbing into the mid-50s early in the morning and stabilizing in the lower 70s during the afternoon. As polls closed at 8 p.m., temperatures had settled into the 60s.
The dry stretch that persisted for more than two weeks across central and eastern Maryland will end on Thursday. Scattered rain showers are forecast to begin in the morning, breaking the long period without precipitation. Intermittent light showers may continue through the evening. The Baltimore Ravens host the Jaguars at M&T Bank Stadium at 8:15 p.m. Thursday. Forecasters expect a few showers during the game, but the event is not likely to be canceled. Temperatures during kickoff should remain in the mid to upper 60s.
Friday brings the heaviest precipitation of the week. Steady and possibly heavy rain is expected to develop, with the highest likelihood of accumulation along and east of Interstate 95. The Maryland and Delaware beaches are projected to receive the most rain. Forecasters noted that the rain system could shift west in future updates, potentially affecting the Baltimore area more significantly.
Wednesday offers a different pattern. Thicker and more widespread fog is expected in the morning due to moisture returning from the south. Drivers should allow extra time for their commute. The fog is projected to dissipate by 10 a.m., leading to a partly sunny and breezy afternoon. Highs will reach the lower to middle 70s, with clouds becoming more prominent later in the day.
The weekend forecast indicates bright and brisk conditions. Highs will remain in the 60s on both Saturday and Sunday. Wind speeds are expected to gust between 20 and 30 miles per hour throughout the weekend. The weather remains seasonably cool with no rain in the forecast for the final two days of the week.
