Shawna Gramkow, a resident of Sanford, Florida, has been charged with unlawful wiretapping in Massachusetts. She was issued a summons last week by Hingham District Court. The charge stems from an Instagram video she shared earlier this year while the Lindsay Clancy trial was ongoing.
Christopher Clancy, the father of Lindsay Clancy's ex-husband, reported the incident to Scituate police on September 4. That date coincided with the judge declaring a mistrial in the case. Clancy told officers that he received a call from an unknown number around August 6 while driving. He answered by accident and did not give consent for the conversation to be recorded.
The video, posted on the Instagram account saltylunatics, features Gramkow describing the situation. She states that the caller, identified as Patrick Clancy, was mumbling and likely unaware the line was active. An investigator reviewed the clip and noted that the man's voice was largely unintelligible. However, Clancy recognized his own comments regarding his eldest son in the audio.
Massachusetts law requires all parties to a conversation to consent to recording. Investigators traced the Instagram account to Gramkow and confirmed she was the speaker in the video. Her arraignment is scheduled for November 20 in Hingham District Court.
On Thursday, Gramkow posted a new video to the same account, which frequently covers the Clancy trial. In the clip, she claims the allegations are false and easy to prove. The court docket did not list an attorney for her at the time of the filing.
